Tours

MOCA’s guided tours provide visitors with an interactive and engaging museum experience. Museum educators and trained docents give tours to adults and students of all ages. Visitors can come time after time and always learn and see something new in both our permanent collection galleries and featured exhibition spaces. Tours are specially tailored to the individual group in order to provide the most meaningful experience for all visitors.

School Tours

The Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville provides fun and informative educational tours for children of all ages. MOCA provides a supportive and creative environment for inquiry-based learning that enhances children’s knowledge and understanding of artists and art processes by incorporating a variety of tactile experiences. Tours are grade-specific and linked to elements from Florida’s Sunshine State Standards. In addition to visiting our permanent and featured exhibition galleries, all of our school tours provide tailored hands-on art activities. Studio projects are designed to enhance the tour’s educational theme and tie in with the gallery visit. Children in grades Kindergarten through 5th also spend time in the ArtExplorium Loft, our center that has sixteen interactive stations illustrating the basic principles of art. Tours last an hour and a half and are offered Tuesday through Friday at 9:30 am and 11:15 am.

To book your tour today contact MOCA’s Education Department (904) 366-6911 ext. 212.

School Tours 2008-2009

Teachers are also provided with extensive tour information to implement in the classroom prior to and following their visit.

Adult Tours

Adult tours consist of a one-hour overview of permanent and changing exhibitions plus time for personal exploration. Groups have the option to participate in a studio activity where they will create a work of art in response to their tour. In addition to our adult tours, MOCA offers Corporate Team Building, a unique experience for corporate groups, clubs or other organizations.

Adult tours are $6 per person with a minimum of 10 participants.

Featured Exhibition Tours

MOCA Jacksonville has frequently changing temporary exhibitions. The education department tailors tours to each individual exhibition providing a wealth of new information for any visitor. This tour focuses on the current visiting exhibition, the artists’ intent and how their work fits into the context of art history.
